THE REMIX PROCEDURE

19. Each chapter in some way 'follows on' from the chapter that precedes it growing out of the previous one, producing a continuous remix effect.

20. This remix effect is, in part, achieved by the writer utilising at least two elements from the previous chapter. These elements may be taken from the text itself, that is, by the inclusion of words, phrases, sentences or images from the earlier chapter. At other times a more lateral approach can be used, relating to the shape, weight, mood, texture, meaning, or emotional impact of the previous chapter. These elements are the connections between chapters which a reader will be able to recognise, sometimes immediately, at other times with a little more study.
