Walt Disney
(born 1901, Chicago, Illinois, USA; died 1966, Los Angeles, California,
USA)
American showman famous for pioneering the animated feature film with
the release of Snow White in 1937. Disney created a myth of America
as a pastoral haven in his films and TV shows and is most closely associated
with the cartoon characters Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. In 1955 he built
the world's first theme park, Disneyworld, just outside Los Angeles.
